Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.

Psalm 111:2

Flagstaff, Arizona, has been the home of much scientific discovery. Geology, Astronomy, Archaeology, Paleontology - they are all part of the culture in our little mountain town. Boasting of the nearby Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Meteor Crater, Lowell Observatory, numerous Native American ruins, hundreds of volcanoes, and much more, the region attracts scientists and explorers from around the world.

The scientific explanations for our amazing landscape, however, largely tell a narrative that leaves out the creator of all this beauty. The Southwest is viewed as the product of slow, aimless processes. Discoveries that contradict the conventional paradigm are too often overlooked for the sake of conformity. Notions of a grand designer are disregarded as outdated and unacceptable. There is simply no room for the supernatural in the modern worldview.

Yet there are many evidences that this understanding of the world falls short of its goals. For instance, opposite to expectations, the longer our Grand Canyon has been studied, the more controversy there has been about its origin. Perhaps the approach is missing something.

Can there be another way to understand the world around us? What might it look like if we began our discovery acknowledging that creation requires a Creator? The Bible tells us that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. At EDGE, we are convinced that the God who knows each one of us, wants us to know Him in return, and we believe that studying what has been made leads to a greater knowledge of the One who made it. More than that, we believe it leads to an even more exciting knowledge of the world. We believe it can explain more, and it can explain better.

EDGE exists to proclaim to the Flagstaff community that God’s Word is trustworthy and authoritative in all areas of life. Scientists, theologians, and other experts from around the world are hosted at regular, in-person events where we explore creation in honor of our Creator. From the edge of the Grand Canyon to the edge of the universe, we are pursuing Him through His wonderful works.
